Henley Business School’s global presence and international reach is evidenced in a number of ways but in particular by its 150 academic faculty from 18 countries, most of whom are widely published in their field, its international network of associates and collaborative partners, and its alumni family of more than 70,000 members from every corner of the globe.
According to the Head of Henley Business School Malaysia Professor Teck Yong Eng, the school’s research-led teaching means students are taught based on the most current knowledge. “Many business schools only focus on teaching business, but we aim to create impact in the industry and to be relevant to policy makers. Most of our lecturers have connections with industry captains or people in the financial and real estate fields and small to medium enterprises. This means they’re in a position to influence decision makers.”
Professor Eng adds that most academics at Henley Business School in Malaysia are research active and have had their findings published in peer-reviewed academic journals. This means they are able to use their own material for teaching purposes, to enable students to be well informed on the most recent, cutting-edge research in that particular area. “For example, one of our real estate lecturers, who is working in the industry, uses findings and case studies they’ve developed through their research and had published in journals, to inform our students about the latest technologies in real estate planning; one of our finance lecturers uses real stock exchange data from the Thomson Reuters data stream to simulate scenarios in stock movements and how they affect shareholders value. This is an example of how real life examples and real data can be used in teaching our students,” he chimes.
