Your Foundation to a World-Class Degree in Malaysia or the UK
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) at the University of Reading, a global Top 200 university, was one of the first to be established in the UK back in the 1980s. The IFP programme is offered at both the University of Reading’s UK campus and its Malaysian campus in Educity Iskandar, Johor (near Legoland!), a dedicated education zone established by the Malaysian government.
At the University of Reading’s Malaysia campus, there are two intakes for IFP each year, in April and September, aimed largely at students who have completed SPM. Students who complete the IFP can progress to their chosen degree either at the university’s UK campus in the town of Reading (25 minutes from London) or the Malaysian campus.
On the IFP, students have the option to study business or science, from which various pathways are available to them including:
- Accounting and Finance
- Real Estate
- Building and construction
- Law (subject to provisional accreditation in Malaysia)
Note that, irrespective of campus, the programmes taught are identical regarding curriculum, teaching materials and academic quality standards.
Given our experience in Malaysia, a key goal of the IFP is to help students become independent learners who are capable of finding information, examining issues and less dependent on being spoon-fed. In addition to academic skills, the IFP also helps students develop soft skills such as problem-solving, working in teams and communications, which we know are vital for their career development. Importantly, the small class sizes allows students to benefit from greater personal interaction with faculty and other students.
Finally, a key advantage of studying at the University of Reading’s Malaysia Campus in Educity, Iskandar Johor, is the environment. Our stunning campus allows students to focus on their studies while still having fun and enjoying their social life without all the hassle of living in a big city.
