Global Career Advantage with the University of Reading Malaysia
The University of Reading is in the top 20% of universities worldwide (QS 2020) recognised for this academic and research strengths in business, the built environment, law, psychology and real estate. The University’s main campus in Reading, UK is less than 30 minutes away by train from London.
The university opened the doors to its Malaysia branch campus in 2015, located in Educity, Iskandar Johor. Educity is an education hub that is home to several established education institutions, including the University of Reading. The award-winning campus is a spacious, modern facility that houses IT-enabled classrooms, lecture theatre, learning resource centre and student social areas all under one roof.
The Malaysia campus offers students in Malaysia the best of both worlds – the opportunity to study for a prestigious UK degree, which is exactly the same as that awarded on the UK campus, but at a significantly more affordable cost compared with studying in the UK.
Henley Business School
The Malaysia campus also gives students access to programmes at the University’s renowned Henley Business School, which has a long-established reputation as one of Europe’s premier business schools. Henley is one of the few elite schools in the world to be triple-accredited with AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
Degrees with a Career Focus
The university recognises that career prospects is an important consideration for students and parents when choosing a degree programme. The Malaysia campus specialises in high-quality degrees that provide students with excellent career prospects and professional recognition, taking into account industry needs for skills and talent. The campus currently offers undergraduate degrees in the following areas:
- Accounting and Finance
- Management and Business
- Real Estate
- Quantity Surveying
Notably, the University of Reading Malaysia is the only international branch campus in Malaysia to offer degrees in Law and Real Estate. The campus is launching the inaugural intake for its Law programme this coming September after recently gaining provisional-accreditation from the Ministry of Education.
A key advantage for students is the fact that all programmes offered at the University of Reading Malaysia are recognised by relevant professional and industry bodies.
Our BSc Real Estate, for example, is the only quad-accredited programme in Malaysia recognised by BOVEAP, RICS, RISM and SISV (Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers). Similarly, our BSc Quantity Surveying is the only quad-accredited programme recognised by RICS, CIOB, RISM and PAQS. Our BSc Accounting and Finance provides the quickest route to ICAEW ACA Chartered Accountant status, and our BSc Psychology is one of a handful in Malaysia to be accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Industry Work Placements
The university encourages and supports students to take industry work placements to gain relevant work experience. As part of the unique partnership with ICAEW, accounting and finance students undertake a compulsory full-year work placement in Year 3 at one of the major professional services firms such as Ernst & Young, PWC and Deloitte. There is also a compulsory work placement for psychology students. Students benefit from our close ties with industry partners when searching for suitable work placements.
Small Class Sizes
Unlike other institutions, students at the University of Reading Malaysia won’t find themselves in a class with a 100 other students. The class sizes are much smaller, typically between 20 to 30 students, which leads to a more effective learning experience. The Malaysia campus adopts the same curriculum and learning approach as used on the UK campus, which means that students improve their critical thinking and communication skills as an integral part of their holistic development.
Student Life @ Educity
The campus setting at the University of Reading Malaysia provides the ideal environment for sudents to balance serious academic study and social life without the hassle and cost of living in a big city.
Students can take advantage of the world-class sports facilities at Educity which includes an Olympic swimming pool, diving pool, running track, indoor stadium and fitness centre. A new Student Hub which includes McDonalds and other eateries provide ample space for students to chill and hangout.
